Philipp Hermann Freiherr von Zu Rhein (born February 13, 1809 in Würzburg , † January 13, 1870 in Munich ) was a royal Bavarian government official .

Life

He was the son of the royal Bavarian Minister of Justice Maximilian Freiherr von Zu Rhein and Therese Freiin von Schütz-Holtzhausen (1782-1837). His older brother was the royal Bavarian government president Friedrich Freiherr von Zu Rhein .

At first, Zu Rhein attended the Royal College in Würzburg, where he was honored in 1821 for his achievements in drawing. After high school he studied at the University of Würzburg Law . In 1829 he became a member of the Corps Bavaria Würzburg . After completing his studies, he began his professional career as a royal chamberlain in the Bavarian civil service in 1834 as secretary of the government of Lower Franconia in Würzburg, where he was promoted to government councilor in 1835 . On May 23, 1838, he married in Würzburg.

In 1841 he was appointed royal district judge in Bad Kissingen and at the same time as bath commissioner of the local state bath as the successor to Julius Freiherr von Rotenhan . At this point he was already the royal chamberlain . In 1847 he became a Councilor restored to the government of Lower Franconia. After him, the office of bath commissioner in Bad Kissingen remained vacant. It was not until 1849 that Ernst Freiherr von Lerchenfeld became the new bath commissioner.

In 1853, Zu Rhein was last appointed regional president of the government of Upper Bavaria with its seat in Munich. In the same year he took over the chairmanship of the "Agricultural District Association of Upper Bavaria", at whose head he stood until his death.

As chairman, he managed to double the number of club members and make this district club the largest in Bavaria. He promoted commercial and agricultural training. Agricultural winter schools and special courses were created to train cultural technicians and cultural foremen. On the Rhine, the agricultural wandering apprenticeship was expanded and instead of just one, there were four agricultural magazines at the end of his board. Zu Rhein promoted agriculture in its district as a whole, founded an agricultural credit association in Upper Bavaria and reorganized the stud farm .

He was also a member of the "Historical Association of Upper Bavaria". On January 13, 1870, he died unexpectedly of complications from a stroke . He had previously suffered from a facial rose .
