Ludwig Weis

Ludwig Weis , from 1869 Ritter von Weis (often Ludwig von Weis ; born January 19, 1813 in Zweibrücken , † May 15, 1880 in Munich ) was a German lawyer, Royal Ministerialrat in Munich, President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Kingdom of Bavaria and of 1859 to 1862 first mayor of the city of Würzburg.

biography

Ludwig Weis studied at the University of Munich Law and graduated with a doctorate as Dr. jur. from. He then became a lawyer in Zweibrücken. The University of Würzburg appointed him full professor of French law and Bavarian constitutional law on August 27, 1851. He was relieved of this position on March 25, 1858. This was due to tensions between the Pfordten and Weis government as a member of the legislative committee. His work on the committee also led to Weis being transferred to the Eichstätt appellate court . In 1859, with the support of his personal and political friend Anton Ruland , Weis was elected the first legally qualified mayor of the city of Würzburg. From 1862 onwards he worked as a Royal Ministerial Counselor in the State Ministry of Justice in Munich and as the President of the Royal Court of Appeal in Zweibrücken.

In 1869 he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Bavarian Crown . As early as 1864 he received the Knight's Cross 1st Class of the Order of Merit of St. Michael .

Political activities

Between 1849 and 1871 he was a member of the Chamber of Deputies and was close to the Patriot Party and the Huttler Group. Von Weis was 2nd President of the Chamber of Deputies from 1849 to 1859 and served as President of the Chamber from 1870 to 1871.
