Georg Ignaz Brock

Georg Ignaz Brock (born October 15, 1746 in Würzburg ; † February 1, 1821 there ) was a German author and politician. From 1796 until his death he was first mayor of Würzburg and satirical writer .

Life

Georg Ignaz Brock began his professional career from 1776 as senior councilor, from May 27, 1779 he was city councilor and from 1802 court councilor.

From 1796 he succeeded Georg Ferdinand Schönig (1741–1796) as the first legally qualified mayor of Würzburg. He held this office until his death. He was friends with Rudolf Graf von Rechteren-Limpurg (1751–1842). In 1804 he threatened Friedrich Koenig with deportation by the police, about which Koenig complained to the Bavarian State Commissioner General Friedrich Karl von Thürheim .

In the Xenien written by Brock, he commented on the fate of the city of Würzburg in the Napoleonic era in a satirical way. These documents are lost.

He was married to Maria Susanna von Brock for 44 years until his death.
