Hermann Ernst von Rotenhan (born March 19, 1800 at Rentweinsdorf Castle in Lower Franconia ; † July 11, 1858 in Buchwald near Erdmannsdorf , Silesia ) was the Bavarian Royal Chamberlain and President of the Chamber of Deputies in Bavaria.

origin

He comes from the Franconian noble family Rotenhan . His parents were Baron Sigmund von Rotenhan (1761–1826) and his first wife Antoinette von Lenthe (1774–1806), a daughter of the Hanoverian State and Conference Minister Freiherr Ernst von Lenthe (1744–1814). His father married in 1810 after the death of his first wife Luise von Grolman (1784-1859), a daughter of the influential Prussian Privy Councilor Heinrich Dietrich von Grolman (1740-1840). His brother Julius (1805–1882) became government director, his sister Mathilde (1812–1878) was married to the police chief of Berlin Julius von Minutoli (1805–1860).

Life

From 1818 to 1823 he studied law and camera studies in Erlangen, Berlin, Würzburg and Göttingen. He was a member of the old Erlanger fraternity , which he represented at the Burschentag in Dresden in 1820 , the old Berlin fraternity and the Germania fraternity in Würzburg . He then entered the Bavarian civil service as chamberlain. In 1826 he took over the Rentweinsdorf family estate.

From 1831 to 1848 he sat in the Bavarian Chamber of Deputies. In 1838 he led the way against the squat decree . In 1843 he obtained the Bavarian constitutional confession. In the legislative periods of 1845/46 and 1847 he was President of the Bavarian Chamber of Deputies. In 1848 he was the closest confidante of King Ludwig I and a member of the pre-parliament . He was then from May 29, 1848 to May 17, 1849 for Nördlingen (8th Swabia ) member of the Frankfurt National Assembly , where he was a member of the board of the conservative group Café Milani and voted for the election of Friedrich Wilhelm IV.

1852/54 was Rotenhan member of the district administrator for Lower Franconia and 1855/56 again a member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Bavarian State Parliament .

His younger brother was the Bavarian government official and politician Julius Freiherr von Rotenhan (1805-1882).

Hermann von Rotenhan was a member of the Freemasons Association .

family

In 1830 he married Freiin Marie Karoline (Marline) Riedesel zu Eisenbach (1809–1878), a daughter of Georg Riedesel zu Eisenbach (1785–1854), Land Marshal of the Grand Duchy of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach at Schloss Neuenhof (Eisenach) . The couple had five sons and four daughters, including:
