Ernst Wilhelm Karl von Grolman (born August 16, 1832 in Berlin ; † April 15, 1904 there ) was a Prussian infantry general .

Life

origin

He was the son of Wilhelm Heinrich von Grolman (1781-1856) and his wife Malwine, née Eimbeck (1804-1857). His father was Real Privy Councilor , President of the Supreme Court and Major a. D.

Military career

Grolman attended the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Gymnasium in Berlin and on April 1, 1849 joined the Kaiser Franz Grenadier Regiment of the Prussian Army as a flag junior . In 1857 he became an adjutant of the 3rd Guard Infantry Brigade. Grolman took part in the war of 1866 as a captain and adjutant at the High Command of the First Army , and later he became an adjutant at the General Command of the X Army Corps in Hanover . In 1867 he was sent to the Prussian legation in Munich as a major. In the war against France in 1870/71 he took part as adjutant to General von Werder, in 1871 he rose to head of department in the General Staff , in 1872 he became chief of staff of the X Army Corps, in 1873 commander of the 55th Infantry Regiment , from 1874 on He walked as Colonel of the 3rd Guards Regiment , in 1880 he rose to major general and commander of the 55th Infantry Brigade, in 1883 he became director of the Department of Disabled Affairs in the War Ministry and in 1885 Lieutenant General .
