- March 20 : After the Battle of Heliopolis , Egypt falls to France . The French army under the command of Jean-Baptiste Kléber defeats Ottoman troops under the Grand Vizier Yusuf Pasha.
- March 21 : Russia and the Ottoman Empire agree in the Treaty of Constantinople to form the Republic of the Ionian Islands . It is tribute to the Sublime Porte .

- May 5th : Napoleon Bonaparte begins another campaign in Italy. Battle of Messkirch
- May 15 : James Hadfield carried out a pistol assassination attempt on King George III of England at London's Theater Royal Drury Lane . The ruler remains unharmed, the assassin is arrested.
- June 9 : The French defeat Austrian forces in the Battle of Montebello della Battaglia in the Second Coalition War . General Jean Lannes and his soldiers win the battle after an enemy attack near Casteggio .
- June 14th : Napoleon attacks Austria . The battle of Marengo brings Napoleon the decisive victory.
- June 19 : The French Rhine Army under Jean-Victor Moreau succeeds in the Second Coalition War in the Battle of Höchstädt after crossing the Danube over Austrian troops and allied Württemberg-Bavarian troops. The opposing general Paul Kray von Krajowa sees himself compelled to withdraw from Ulm .
- 20 June : The Napoleonic Army conquered after their victory in the Battle of Marengo during the Second Coalition War the city Turin . After their fall, the Kingdom of Sardinia-Piedmont is dissolved a second time by the French and the king is declared deposed. The country is not being restored as a Piedmontese Republic , but as a Sub-Alpine Republic , which exists under French military administration.

The success enables the advance towards Vienna. The political weight of Napoleon Bonaparte is strengthened by the victory.
- December 13th to 14th : In the battle of the Walserfeld near Salzburg , the Imperial and Royal Main Army under Archduke Johann wins a victory over part of the French Army on the Rhine (deceased I. Corps Lecourbe). Due to the successful crossing of the Salzach further north near Laufen by the mass of French troops under Jean-Victor Moreau, the Austrian army is threatened with encirclement in the Salzburg area. This forced a further retreat in the direction of Vienna in order to save the meanwhile strongly decimated Austrian troops. The Steyr armistice (December 25th) ended the advance of the French near Melk.

United States of America
- April to October: In the US presidential election , sometimes referred to as the 1800 Revolution , Thomas Jefferson and Vice President-elect Aaron Burr defeat incumbent President John Adams . This marked the beginning of a new political epoch that was shaped by the strengthening of the Democratic-Republican Party and the dissolution of the Federalist Party .
- November 1 : US President John Adams moves into his new official residence, later the White House .
- November 17 : In Washington, DC the US Congress meets for the first time in the Capitol , which is not yet fully completed.
- Federal law prohibits exporting slaves from the United States abroad.
- The release laws in South Carolina are tightened. Since slaveholders have released objectionable, old or sick slaves who have subsequently become a burden to the community, the law stipulates that a commission must approve the release.
- Gabriel Prosser leads a slave rebellion in Virginia , but fails.

- October 7th : The French pirate Robert Surcouf and his crew board the Indians Kent of the British East India Company in the Indian Ocean . Of myths entwined conquest of the merchant ship gives him rich booty, but he is a British future bounty of five million francs suspended.
