David Ross (politician)

David Ross (born February 12, 1755 in Prince George's County , Province of Maryland , †  1800 in Frederick County , Maryland ) was an American politician who attended the Continental Congress as a delegate from Maryland .

As a young man, David Ross joined the American revolutionary movement. He was assigned to Lieutenant Colonel William Grayson's regiment on January 1, 1777 by General George Washington with the rank of major . He served there until he retired from the military on December 20 of the same year. He had to look after the family property after the death of his father. He also studied law and was inducted into the bar in 1783, after which he began practicing law in Frederick County.

From 1785 to 1787 he was sent as a delegate from Maryland to the sessions of the Continental Congress in New York . He did not hold any other public offices until his death in 1800.
