Amalie Haizinger , called Neumann-Haizinger , née Morstadt (born May 6, 1800 in Karlsruhe , † August 10, 1884 in Vienna ) was a German actress .

Life

Amalie Haizinger appeared at the Karlsruhe Theater as early as 1810, of which she became a member a few years later. After she married the actor Carl Neumann in 1816 , her talent for profitable acting developed very quickly. On her art trips, which extended to Paris , London and Saint Petersburg , she met with enthusiastic applause.

After the death of her first husband in 1823, she married the singer Anton Haizinger in 1827 and worked with him on the Karlsruhe stage. Her real subject was the higher and finer genre of comedy , in which she combined fresh humor and, despite all boldness, a graceful spirit with the finest social tact.

In 1846 she accepted an engagement at the Burgtheater in Vienna , where she worked with great applause until her death on August 10, 1884, among other roles in the role of "comical old people".

On the occasion of her 50th birthday, Johann Baptist Reiter painted a portrait of the actress, which is now in the Linz Castle Museum.

Amalie Haizinger had two children with her first husband, one of whom, Luise Neumann , also became an actress.
