Anton Haizinger
Anton Haizinger (born March 14, 1796 in Wilfersdorf , † December 31, 1869 in Karlsruhe ) was an Austrian opera singer ( tenor ) and husband of the actress Amalie Haizinger .
Life
Haizinger began his career as a school teacher in Vienna, was later hired for the opera by Count Pálffy, director of the Theater an der Wien , because of his beautiful voice , and received unanimous applause from his first appearance in 1821. One of the highlights of his career was participating in the world premiere of Beethoven's 9th Symphony in the great academy, which the composer gave on May 7, 1824 in the Kärntnertortheater . He then continued his education under Antonio Salieri , performed successfully at other theaters and received a lifelong position in Karlsruhe.
The most brilliant epoch of his artistic work began with his appearances in Paris, where, alongside the singer Wilhelmine Schröder-Devrient , he helped the German opera to gain the good reputation that the opera enjoyed in 1828, 1829 and 1830.
In 1850 he retired from the stage and moved to Vienna, where his wife and daughter were engaged.
