Thomas Robinson junior
Thomas Robinson junior (* 1800 in Georgetown , Delaware ; † October 28, 1843 there ) was an American politician . Between 1839 and 1841 he represented the state of Delaware in the US House of Representatives .
Career
Thomas Robinson attended public schools in his home country and then Princeton College , now Princeton University . After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1823, he began to work in his home town of Georgetown in his new profession. In 1825 he became a chamberlain in Sussex County . Between 1831 and 1832 he worked at the Delaware Tax Court.
Politically, Robinson became a member of the Democratic Party founded by Andrew Jackson . In the 1838 congressional election, he was elected to the House of Representatives in Washington, DC by a narrow margin of just 58 votes against incumbent John J. Milligan of the Whig Party . There he was able to complete only one legislative period until March 3, 1841, because he lost in the elections of 1840 with 46% to 54% of the vote against the Whig George B. Rodney .
Thomas Robinson died just two and a half years after leaving Congress in October 1843 in his native Georgetown.
