William H. Heald

William Henry Heald (born August 27, 1864 in Wilmington , Delaware , † June 3, 1939 there ) was an American politician . Between 1909 and 1913 he represented the state of Delaware in the US House of Representatives .

Career

William Heald attended the public schools in Wilmington and then until 1883 the University of Delaware . Between 1888 and 1892 he was an auditor for the federal banks in the states of Montana , Idaho , Washington and Oregon . After studying law at George Washington University in Washington, DC and being admitted to the bar, he began practicing his new profession in Wilmington. Between 1901 and 1905 he was also a postman in his hometown.

Heald was a member of the Republican Party and was elected to the US House of Representatives in 1908. There he took over from Hiram R. Burton on March 4, 1909 . After re-election in 1910, he could remain in Congress until March 3, 1913 . In 1912 he renounced another candidacy. In the following years Heald worked again as a lawyer and got into the banking business. Between 1915 and 1939 he was also a curator of the University of Delaware. From 1936 he was President of the Board of Trustees.
