Kensey Johns

Kensey Johns junior (born December 10, 1791 in New Castle , Delaware , †  March 28, 1857 there ) was an American politician . Between 1827 and 1831 he represented the state of Delaware in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Kensey Johns enjoyed a classical education. Until 1810 he attended Princeton University , which was then still called Princeton College ; after completing a law degree, he was admitted to the bar in 1813. He then began to practice his new profession in his hometown of New Castle. Politically, he became a supporter of President John Quincy Adams and a member of the National Republican Party .

After the resignation of Congressman Louis McLane , who moved to the US Senate , Johns was elected as his successor to the US House of Representatives. After re-election in 1828, he could remain in Congress between October 2, 1827 and March 3, 1831 . In 1830 Johns renounced another candidacy.

In 1832, Kensey Johns was appointed to the Delaware clerkship. This is a civil servant who dealt with legal matters. He held this office until his death in 1857. Johns was also a judge on a guardianship court and an appeals court.
