Yevgeny Abramovich Baratynski
Yevgeny Baratynsky ( Russian Евгений Абрамович Баратынский * February 19 jul. / 2. March 1800 greg. In Mara, Tambov Governorate , † June 29 jul. / 11. July 1844 greg. In Naples ) was a Russian officer, writer and poet .
Life
Yevgeny Baratynski was born on his parents' estate Wjashlo in the Tambov region as the son of a lieutenant general. As a youth he came to the page corps in Saint Petersburg for training, which he had to leave in 1815 because of various youth pranks, with the prohibition of employment in the civil service. He spent the next three years in his home village. In 1818 he joined the military as a simple soldier. Two years later he was promoted to sergeant and came with his regiment to Finland , where he became an officer in 1825. A short time later he said goodbye, moved to Moscow and devoted himself exclusively to literature. In 1843 he went on a major trip abroad. A year later he died in Naples.
Artistic creation
The seclusion and the Finnish nature had made Yevgeny Baratynski a poet. His first larger poem, the Eda , is completely imbued with a Finnish character. He also wrote many lyrical poems, one of which, The Ball , appeared in a volume with Pushkin's Count Nulin . His best work is The Gypsy , a morality and love painting from higher Russian society, which is on par with the poetry of his friend Pushkin in terms of delicacy of observation and delicacy of feeling. His obituary for Goethe , whom he greatly admired, was published in 1833 in Novosselje in St. Petersburg. A complete edition of his poems appeared in Moscow in 1869.
