Johan Wikmansson

Johan Wikmansson (also Johannes Wickmanson ; born December 28, 1753 in Stockholm , † January 10, 1800 ibid) was a Swedish composer.

Wickmannsson, who had already received piano lessons as a child, first studied mathematics in Copenhagen and in 1772 accepted a civil servant position in Stockholm. He then took lessons from Abbé Vogler and Joseph Martin Kraus and became an organist at the Dutch Reformed Church. From 1781 he was organist at the Storkyrkan , from 1797 he taught at the Royal Music Academy .

He composed a menuetto allegro for orchestra, five string quartets , two piano sonatas , sonatinas for the zither , solo pieces for cello, songs (based on texts by Carl Michael Bellman and Anna Maria Lenngren, among others ) and incidental music.
