Ezekiel Cornell

Ezekiel Cornell (* 1732 in Scituate , Providence County , Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations , †  April 25, 1800 in Milford , Massachusetts ) was an American politician who attended the Continental Congress as a delegate from Rhode Island .

After attending public schools in his home country, Ezekiel Cornell embarked on a career as a mechanic. After the outbreak of the American Revolution , he joined the later in the Continental Army Rising militia of Rhode Iceland and became Lieutenant Colonel in by Colonel led Daniel Hitchcock regiment. Among other things, he was involved in the siege of Boston .

From October 1, 1776, Cornell served as Deputy Supreme Commander ( Deputy Adjutant General ) of the armed forces of his home state. Also in 1776 he was appointed Brigadier General. After he resigned from military service on March 16, 1780, he accepted the call to delegate to the Continental Congress that was in Philadelphia that same year . Cornell held this mandate until 1782 when he returned to his farm in Scituate.
