Adelheid of Anhalt-Bernburg-Schaumburg-Hoym

Adelheid von Anhalt-Bernburg-Schaumburg-Hoym (born February 23, 1800 in Hoym ; † September 13, 1820 in Oldenburg ) was a princess of Anhalt-Bernburg- Schaumburg-Hoym and by marriage, Hereditary Princess of Lübeck and Princess of Holstein-Oldenburg.

Life

Adelheid was one of the four daughters of Prince Victor II of Anhalt-Bernburg-Schaumburg-Hoym (1767–1812) from his marriage to Amalie (1776–1841), daughter of Prince Karl Christian von Nassau-Weilburg . She grew up with her sisters in Hoym, Anhalt, and was carefully trained.

She married the later Grand Duke August of Oldenburg (1783-1853) on July 24, 1817 in Schloss Schaumburg . The marriage was described as happy, but Adelheid died three years after the marriage in childbed. August, who became Grand Duke of Oldenburg nine years later, married her sister Ida five years after Adelheid's death .
