City of Hoym / Anhalt is a district of the city of Seeland in the southwestern Salzlandkreis in Saxony-Anhalt (Germany).

Geographical location

The city of Hoym is located in the northern Harz foreland , about 12 kilometers west of Aschersleben . It has its own junction with the four-lane federal highway 6 .

history

Hoym was first mentioned in a document in 961 . On November 10, 1195, the knight family resident here with Cuno de Hoym is first mentioned.

Residential city

From 1721 Hoym was the residential town of the Principality of Anhalt-Bernburg-Hoym . Hoym Castle dates from this period . Today it houses the largest facility for the disabled in the state of Saxony-Anhalt.

20th and 21st centuries

During the time of National Socialism , at least 260 residents of what was then the State Infirmary in Hoym were murdered in the Bernburg euthanasia center .

Hoym and four other places formed the new parish of Zealand on July 15, 2009 .

On July 1, 2014, the new municipal constitutional law of the state of Saxony-Anhalt came into force. In its §14 (2) the municipalities are given the opportunity to assign this designation to the districts that were towns before the incorporation. The city of Zealand has made use of this regulation. Their new main statutes came into force on September 8, 2015. In §1 (2) the districts are listed with their official names.

On the basis of § 10 i. V. m. §§ 8 and 45 Paragraph 2 No. 1 Local Constitutional Law of the State of Saxony-Anhalt (KVG LSA) of June 17, 2014 (GVBl. LSA p. 288), the City Council of the City of Zealand at its meeting on December 6, 2016, adopted the following 1 Amendment to the main statute decided: The city of Hoym bears the addition "Anhalt". So it is now called "City of Hoym / Anhalt".

Hoym has its own connection to the federal motorway 36 ( Braunschweig - Bernburg (Saale) ).

The station Nachterstedt-Hoym is located on the railway line Halle-Vienenburg . Since December 14, 2014 the TaktBus 140 of the state network Saxony-Anhalt has been running from the Salzland roundabout between Aschersleben and Quedlinburg via Hoym.
