Günter Schneidewind

Günter Schneidewind (* 1953 in Nachterstedt ) is a former German radio presenter and author .

Career

During the GDR era, Schneidewind taught German and English at the Paul-Schreier-Oberschule (later Adolph-Diesterweg-Oberschule) in Hennigsdorf as a high school teacher . His radio career began with DT64 , the youth radio in the GDR. A few months before reunification , he came to Stuttgart in August 1990 as part of a joint SDR3 and DT64 project and, together with Matthias Holtmann , moderated the Top 2000 D , the first all-German hit parade .

For the radio program SWR1 of the Südwestrundfunk he was part of the team of moderators for the programs “The Afternoon” (daily from 1pm to 2pm) and “Guten Abend Baden-Württemberg” (Saturday and Sunday from 6pm to 8pm). In the radio program of SWR1, Schneidewind was also called "The Great Schneidewind" by his colleagues based on " Der Große Brockhaus " due to his extensive knowledge of music . Over the years, Schneidewind had numerous personal encounters with national and international personalities from the rock and pop business. He reports on facts and anecdotes from these encounters in his two books published in 2011 and 2017.

In autumn 2018, Schneidewind retired after 28 years at SDR3 and SWR1.
