Top 2000 D was a joint project of the east German radio station DT64 and the south German station SDR 3 to determine “pan-German” listener charts . The "longest hit parade in the world" was determined from April 12, 1990 to August 16, 1990 and broadcast from August 17 to 25, 1990.

description

DT64 was the youth radio of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), SDR 3 was the youth program of the Süddeutscher Rundfunk . The SDR 3 had already broadcast the Top Thousand X in 1989 .

The favorites were chosen by the listeners of the two stations by postcard . At the top of the hit list was Nothing Compares 2 U by Sinéad O'Connor , followed by Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits and Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin .

SDR 3 listeners played Dire Straits with Brothers in Arms before Led Zeppelin with Stairway to Heaven and Wish you Were Here by Pink Floyd , DT64 listeners Enjoy the Silence from Depeche Mode before Nothing Compares 2 U by Sinéad O ' Connor and Hangin 'Tough voted for by New Kids on the Block . There were also some significant differences in the other ranks in the east and south-west.

All 2,008 tracks could be heard on both channels from August 17th. The presenter Günter Schneidewind , among others, came from the GDR to take over the moderation of the show together with Matthias Holtmann . The countdown for the winning titles in the hit parade ran at the closing party on the Cannstatter Wasen , most of which was broadcast by ARD . Rockhaus , Rio Reiser and Die Toten Hosen performed as live bands .
