Johann Wilhelm Ernst Wägner
Johann Wilhelm Ernst Wägner (born September 16, 1800 in Darmstadt , † December 4, 1886 in Kettenheim ), often just Wilhelm Wägner for short , was a German writer , translator and Protestant theologian.
Life
Johann Wilhelm Ernst Wägner was born as the son of a court hunter in Darmstadt. First attended a private school, then the high school . From 1820 to 1823 he studied theology in Giessen . He then became court master of the French ambassador, Count of Fenelon, in his home town. From January 1824 to May 1827 Wägner was the head of a private college for boys, later a teacher at a secondary school and at a higher trade school . In 1832 he graduated as Dr. phil. In November 1842 Wägner took over a pastor's position in Ginsheim and in 1859 moved to Kettenheim as a pastor . In 1877 he was awarded the title of Council of Churches.
Wägner died at the age of 86.
