Not much is known about Kintzing Prichette. He was born in Philadelphia in 1800 and, according to some sources, was the last Secretary of State in the Michigan Territory , although he is not even mentioned in many sources on that territory. In 1849, he was named Secretary of State in the Oregon Territory by President James K. Polk . After the resignation of Territory Governor Joseph Lane , he had to bridge the time until the arrival of the new Territory Governor John Pollard Gaines . Prichette was Secretary of State in Oregon between April 9, 1849 and September 18, 1850. At the trial of the Indian accused of the Whitman massacre , Prichette took on the unsuccessful defense of the accused. Little is known about Prichette today. There are hardly any facts about him. After his time in Oregon, he may have worked in the Fiji Islands.
