Werner Schineller (born June 20, 1948 in Speyer ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Life

Schineller studied law and in 1975 became department head for youth, social affairs and sport at the district administration of the Pirmasens district . In 1976 he became the personal advisor to the regional president of Rheinhessen-Pfalz Hans Keller and in 1980 to the Rhineland-Palatinate Minister of Social Affairs Georg Gölter . The following year, the Speyer city ​​council elected him full-time mayor .

In 1994, Schineller was elected Lord Mayor of Speyer with 52 percent in one of the first direct elections at mayoral level in Rhineland-Palatinate . He took office in 1995 and was re-elected in 2002 with 59.8 percent. His term of office ended on December 31, 2010. He did not run for the new election that was due.

Schineller was involved as chairman of the historical association of the Palatinate , the city ​​council of Rhineland-Palatinate and the planning community Rheinpfalz .

In 2011, the Rhein-Neckar Region Association awarded Schineller the Hermann Heimerich plaque . In 2012 he received the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class, from Prime Minister Kurt Beck . On September 23, 2016 he was awarded the Johann Christian von Hofenfels Medal by the Association of Palatinate Friends .
