Paulus Skopp
Paulus Skopp (born May 22, 1905 in Chicago , Illinois, † December 29, 1999 in Speyer ) was a German economics teacher and social democratic politician.
Career
Skopp grew up in Königsberg and Leipzig. He studied at the Königsberg commercial college for teaching at commercial schools. From 1930 to 1937 he taught as a graduate trade teacher in Gumbinnen and Königsberg. After receiving his doctorate in 1937, he worked as a commercial and technical college teacher in Halberstadt, and from 1947 as a vocational school director in Magdeburg. In addition, he was teaching at the University of Halle-Wittenberg and at the Hanover Vocational Education Academy.
On February 25, 1949, he was elected Lord Mayor of Speyer. He stayed in office until 1969. During this time the city was rebuilt. A town partnership was entered into with the French city of Chartres in 1959 and the town hall was built.
From 1959 to 1975 he was a member of the State Parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate as a member of the SPD .
