Philipp Lichtenberger

Philipp Lichtenberger (born May 29, 1855 in Speyer ; † January 20, 1918 there ) was a tobacco manufacturer, mayor and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Lichtenberger attended elementary school, grammar school and the Lyceum in Speyer until 1874. He then completed commercial training in Bremen from 1874 to 1876 and studied law and economics at the University of Munich from 1877 to 1879. Until 1883 he worked in his father's tobacco factory and then took it over himself. He later abandoned it and started trading domestic raw tobacco and farming.

From 1894 to 1899 he was a member of the Bavarian Chamber of Deputies and from December 1899 to 1907 of the German Reichstag for the constituency Pfalz  3 ( Germersheim , Bergzabern ) and the National Liberal Party . Between 1904 and 1911 he was mayor of Speyer.
