Claudia Schilling (born June 13, 1968 in Wolfsburg ) is a German lawyer and politician . Since August 2019 she has been Senator for Science and Ports and Senator for Justice and the Constitution of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen for the SPD in the Senate Bovenschulte .

biography

education

Schilling grew up in Wolfsburg. She obtained her Abitur in 1988 at the Kreuzheide grammar school in Wolfsburg. From 1988 to 1993 she studied law at the University of Göttingen . From June 1993 to July 1994 she was a research assistant at the University of Halle and wrote her dissertation , with which she was awarded a Dr. jur. received his doctorate . She completed her legal clerkship in the district of the Oldenburg Higher Regional Court in 1996 with the second state examination.

From 1996 to 1999, Schilling worked as a lawyer in Bremen and Oldenburg with a focus on civil, commercial, corporate and tax law.

In 1999 she became a judge at the Bremerhaven District Court and briefly at the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court in Bremen in 2005 . From 2006 to February 2008 she was responsible for press and public relations as well as legislation at the Senator for Justice and Constitution in Bremen. She then worked as presiding judge at the Bremen Regional Court until December 2011 . After moving to the Lower Saxony judiciary, she headed the Geestland District Court in Langen from January 2012 to March 2017 .

From April 2017 to July 2019 she was a full-time city councilor and social affairs officer for the areas of youth, family and women as well as work, social affairs, senior citizens and migrants in the municipal authorities of the seaside city of Bremerhaven .

In addition to her full-time work, Schilling was a lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences Oldenburg / Ostfriesland / Wilhelmshaven in 1995/96 and at the Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences in 2003/05 and 2016/17 .

politics

In 2004 Schilling became a member of the SPD in the Bremerhaven local association, Lehe-Nord.

The SPD local association Lehe-Nord nominated her in September 2016 for the office of full-time city councilor for the areas of labor, social affairs, senior citizens, migrants as well as youth, family and women. The SPD sub-district Bremerhaven confirmed this candidacy and in February 2017 the Bremerhaven city council elected her as city councilor.

In July 2019, Schilling was nominated by the SPD in Bremerhaven as Bremerhaven's representative in the Bremen Senate and confirmed by the state party conference of the Bremen SPD. On 15 August 2019 she was the Bremen Parliament for Senator elected.
