Anja Stahmann (born June 30, 1967 in Bremerhaven ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ). She has been the Senator for Social Affairs of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen since June 30, 2011 and was previously a member of the Bremen Citizenship from 1999 .

education and profession

Stahmann grew up in Bremerhaven and passed her Abitur there. From 1986 to 1992 she studied social sciences at the University of Göttingen and graduated with a degree in social economics . She also completed additional training as a theater pedagogue and therapist. In 1992 she became a youth education officer and in 1993 she became managing director of the Naturfreundejugend Deutschlands in the state of Bremen.

In 1992 she founded the first improv theater group in Bremen at Buchtstrasse 14/15 with the actor Boris Radivoj. In addition to regular series of concerts, educational theater offers for young people have established themselves there.

Anja Stahmann is married and the mother of two grown children.

Stahmann was a member of the Bremen Parliament from June 24, 1999 to June 30, 2011.

In the 17th electoral term she was active as a speaker in the parliament in the deputation for education (state and municipal). She was a member of

  • Information and Communication Technology and Media Affairs Committee,
  • Science and Research Committee,
  • Committee on Equality for Women,
  • state and municipal petitions committee,
  • Legal Committee and in
  • Temporary committee implementation of federalism reform II in the state of Bremen.

She was a member of the city and state deputation for education. She was also on the advisory board of the state center for political education and a member of the Gewoba supervisory board.

Stahmann was deputy parliamentary group leader of the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen parliamentary group and spokeswoman for the group's education policy. She held the post as media policy spokeswoman for the parliamentary group. From 2001 to 2010, Anja Stahmann was the longstanding spokeswoman for the federal media working group of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen. As a member of the ZDF television council, she led the procedure for the so-called 3-step test.

The main political interests are media and education policy as well as inclusion as the basis of a democratic community. It is important to her that she has more say and participation, especially for children and young people. "Breaking down barriers in people's minds," says Stahmann, is just as important a goal as removing obstacles in the streetscape.

After her re-election to the 18th citizenship, she was elected Senator for Social Affairs, Children, Youth and Women on June 30, 2011 ( Senate Böhrnsen III ). She thus became the first social minister of the Greens in Germany. In July 2015 and August 2019, she was under the names Senator for Social Affairs, Youth, Women, integration and sport and 2019. Senator for Social Affairs, Youth, Sports and Integration again for Social senator elected. She is the longest-serving Minister of Social Affairs in Germany.
