Claudia Bernhard (born February 9, 1961 in Gütersloh ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ), member of the Bremen citizenship and since August 2019 Bremen Senator for Health, Consumer Protection and Women in the Senate Bovenschulte .

Family, education and work

Bernhard obtained her Abitur at the Ludwig-Thoma-Gymnasium in Prien am Chiemsee . She studied history and political science in Augsburg and Munich . She has lived in Bremen since 1991. From 1992 to 2001 she was an editor at the Federal Coordination of Internationalism (BUKO) and since 2004 project administrator at Bremer und Bremerhavener Arbeit GmbH . Since 2004 she has worked as a team leader for the Senator for Economics, Labor and Ports. Bernhard was chairman of the works council of this company until the integration of Bremer und Bremerhaven Arbeit (bba) 'into the public service . Now she is the deputy women's representative at the Senator for Economics, Labor and Ports.

She lives in Bremen- Horn-Lehe and is the mother of two children.

Bernhard has been a member of the Left since 2007. Until 2011 she was a member of the state executive committee of the Bremen Left.
