Thorsten Glauber (born November 21, 1970 in Forchheim ) is a German local and state politician ( free voters ). Glauber has been Minister of State for the Environment and Consumer Protection in the Söder II cabinet since November 12, 2018 .

Private

After training as a communications electronics technician, Glauber attended the vocational school and from 1992 to 1994 the vocational college in Bamberg. From 1994 to 1996 he trained as a draftsman and then studied architecture from 1996 to 2000 at the Coburg University of Applied Sciences (degree: Dipl. Ing. (FH)). From 2000 to 2002 Glauber worked as an employed architect in Erlangen . In addition, from 2001 to 2003 he completed a master's evening course (MBE) in facility management at the Georg-Simon-Ohm University in Nuremberg. In 2003 he started his own business as an architect in Forchheim and founded the Glauber + Rosbigalle office.

He is the son of the former district administrator Reinhardt Glauber , is single and has a daughter. Glauber is of Roman Catholic denomination.

Political career

Glauber joined the Free Voters in 1993, has been a member of the Board of Directors of the District Association of Free Voters Forchheim eV since 2008 and has been Deputy Chairman of the District Association of Free Voters in Upper Franconia since 2009. In his hometown of Pinzberg, he has been the third mayor since 2008. He has been a local councilor since 2002 and is also a member of the council of the Gosberg administrative community . In the state elections in 2008 , he ran in the constituency Forchheim and received 23.4% of the first votes. Glauber moved into the Bavarian state parliament for the first time via a list in the constituency of Upper Franconia . Glauber is a member of both the Committee on Economy and Media, Infrastructure, Construction and Transport and the State Parliament's Committee on State Budget and Financial Matters. In addition, he is a member of the Energy Advisory Board , the Broadcasting Council of the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation , the Board of Trustees of the Bavarian State Foundation , the Information and Communication Advisory Board and the State Sports Advisory Board. For the Free Voters parliamentary group, he is the spokesman for building, energy, transport, economic and sports policy. In the state elections in 2013, Glauber received 26.4% of the first votes in his constituency and thus the best first vote result of the free voters in Bavaria. In the 17th electoral term he held the post of deputy group leader. Glauber has been a district councilor in Forchheim since May 2014. In the state election on October 14, 2018 , he again achieved the best first vote result of his party (25.2%) and was re-elected from the list of the constituency of Upper Franconia.

After the formation of a black-orange coalition, Glauber has been Bavarian State Minister for the Environment and Consumer Protection in the Söder II cabinet since November 12, 2018.
