The Bavarian State Ministry for Digital ( StMD ) based in Munich was created in November 2018.

The first incumbent Minister of State was Judith Gerlach ( CSU ) appointed.

tasks

The Ministry took over the duties of the previous Minister of State for Digital, Media and Europe in the State Chancellery . It is responsible for "the fundamental issues and the coordination of the digitization of Bavaria". It also took over the digitization of the administration from the State Ministry of Finance, State Development and Home .

The Ministry is divided into the following four departments:

  • Central affairs, law
  • Digital strategy and innovations, audiovisual media
  • IT strategy, IT law and digital administration
  • Digital coordination
