Michaela Kaniber (born September 14, 1977 in Bad Reichenhall , nee Brekalo ) is a German politician ( CSU ), member of the Bavarian State Parliament and Minister of Agriculture in the Bavarian state government .

Life

Kaniber's parents came to Bad Reichenhall in Bavaria in the late 1960s and early 1970s as guest workers from Yugoslavia , where they run an inn . Her father comes from Prisike ( Bosnia and Herzegovina ), her mother from Aržano ( Croatia ). Kaniber has an older sister and a younger brother.

After completing secondary school at the St. Zeno girls' secondary school in Bad Reichenhall in 1993, she completed vocational training as a specialist in tax and business consultancy by 1996 . From 1996 to 2004 Kaniber was an employee of a local tax firm, from 2005 to 2013 she worked in the family's catering business.

Kaniber married a police officer when he was in his early twenties. Within five years, their three daughters were born. Kaniber is Roman Catholic.

After complaining about a child-rearing law to a political representative in her region, he asked if she was interested in politics. Kaniber has been a youth officer since 2006 and a councilor in Bayerisch Gmain since 2008 . From 2011 to 2013 she was chairman of the CSU local association Bayerisch Gmain, since 2011 she has been the district chairman of the CSU Berchtesgadener Land, of which she was secretary from 2007 to 2011. In the same year she was elected to the district executive committee of the CSU Upper Bavaria. She has been a district councilor in the Berchtesgadener Land district since 2014 . She is a member of the Women's Union and the Christian Social Workers' Union .

From 2008 to 2013 electoral district officer for the state parliament member Roland Richter , she ran for the Bavarian state parliament in 2013 and became Richter's successor in the district of Berchtesgadener Land with 51.19% of the first votes . She is a member of the committees for labor and social affairs, youth, family and integration as well as for science and art. She is also a member of the inquiry commission “Actively shaping integration in Bavaria and giving direction”, chairwoman of the prison advisory board of the Laufen-Lebenau prison and a member of the advisory board of trustees supporting the Obersalzberg learning site documentation project .

On March 21, 2018, she was appointed to the cabinet by the Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder as Minister of Agriculture . In the state elections on October 14, 2018 , she again won the direct mandate in the Berchtesgadener Land constituency and was confirmed in her ministerial office on November 12, 2018 ( Söder II cabinet ).

Honorary positions

Until 2014 she was a member of the town church council of the parish community Bad Reichenhall. In addition, she is a member of the traditional costume association Bayerisch Gmain and the WSC Bayerisch Gmain. 

Since 2015 she has been chairwoman of the customer advisory board of Volksbank Raiffeisenbank Oberbayern Südost .

In 2013 Kaniber was appointed to the board of trustees of the Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences . In addition, since 2014 she has been the Deputy Chairwoman of the Bavarian-Croatian Society for relations between the two countries.
