history

Report Reichenhaller Grenzbote cooperative officials Mr. Stahl

The cooperative idea goes back to the middle of the 19th century and is based on the principle of self-help , self-responsibility and the self-administration of its members. At that time it was important to help the so-called “middle class” in particular, but also to alleviate the worries of the “little people” or to offer ways out of the existing needs. In Germany , Franz Hermann Schulze-Delitzsch and Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen are considered to be the masterminds and pioneers of the cooperative system . These two independently founded the first credit unions. While Volksbanks mainly emerged in urban areas, Raiffeisenbanks were founded in rural areas.

The origins of today's Volksbank Raiffeisenbank Oberbayern Südost eG go back to 1905, when the commercial credit cooperative Bad Reichenhall was founded.

Announcement of the registration of the commercial credit cooperative Reichenhall

On February 6, 1905, 19 respected Bad Reichenhall citizens, craftsmen and merchants met in the Bürgerbräu Bad Reichenhall to found the “Commercial Credit Cooperative Bad Reichenhall” and by signing the status they announced that they would join the cooperative. After this constitutive act, the first general meeting took place, at which the board of directors and the supervisory board were elected by secret ballot. The initiator Alphons Mertel was in charge of this first meeting. On the following day, the articles of association of the cooperative, the list of members, the minutes of the first general meeting as well as a certification by the then mayor Fritz Söllner were submitted to the competent registry court.

On February 8, the entry was made at the court and the cooperative was established. The first board members of the “Commercial Credit Cooperative Bad Reichenhall” were Georg Johann Mayr (timber merchant), Ludwig Stocker (shoemaker) and Jakob Fischer (master carpenter).
