At the beginning of his artistic career, Florian Froehlich was influenced by the painters of the École de Paris , including Maurice Estève , Charles Lapicque and Nicolas de Staël , whose works he got to know through his uncle, the Zurich art dealer Peter Nathan. In 1996 Froehlich graduated from the universities of Zurich and Lausanne with a degree in medicine. His increasing artistic activity developed parallel to his professional life.

He has lived and worked in Porrentruy in the Swiss Jura since 1996 . His long friendship with the Swiss artist Jacques Minala brought him to glass art. Since 2003 he has been a member of the Swiss Glass Art Association Verarte.ch, which led to several group exhibitions in the National Glass Art Museum Vitromusée in Romont, for example in 2009.

From 2003 to 2009 Florian Froehlich worked on a large church window project for the Catholic Church in Saignelégier (Swiss Jura), the steles of Saignelégier , which were built from 2008 with the support of the Swiss Confederation in a year of construction, in close cooperation with the stained glass master Roland Béguin and the art locksmith JP Scheuner and using experimental techniques.

The concept of the glass steles made of Dallglas is characterized by a new type of technology: They receive the light of this church by covering only a small part of the window surface in three dimensions. In general, no artificial light is used in glass windows. On the other hand, Froehlich also integrates artificial light: the Golgotha group, three large steles in the middle of the church, are backlit at night with over 2000 watts. Each of the 21, four meter high steles is accompanied by a biblical quote commented on by the priest Bernard Miserez. Saignelégier's steles are a novel contribution to contemporary sacred glass art.

Occasionally, Froehlich alludes to current issues in his art, such as the Jura stage of the 2012 Tour de France . For the latter he installed numerous sculptures walking on wooden slats and an old dusty bicycle entitled Finishing line . The installation was on display for 24 hours on July 8, 2012. Froehlich's work was shown on the 2012 Berliner Liste.

Froehlich has been working regularly with the Achtzig gallery for contemporary art in Berlin since 2010 . In December 2013, gallery owner Diana Achtzig curated a solo exhibition by Froehlich with the theme “World Theater-Theater World”, which was opened in the presence of a representative from the Swiss embassy in Berlin. A book with the same title was published by Editions le Renard par la Queue in Lausanne, under the direction of the writer Ferenc Ràkóczy with texts by the Swiss journalist José Ribeaud and a contemporary art design by Chloé Donzé. Florian Froehlich is currently concentrating on the subject of the human being and the interplay between the individual and the masses. He creates a kind of microcosm in the form of micro-sculptures, on painting sculptures and sculpture paintings.

At the end of 2013, Froehlich came up with the completely new idea of integrating microsculptures in clocks. The idea was officially presented to a parquet of Swiss watch manufacturers of international format as part of an exhibition, with the support of Pascal Bourquard and BIWI.
