Pfäffikon is located in the Zurich Oberland on the north and east banks of the Pfäffikersee, which is named after him . Not to be confused with Pfäffikon SZ on Lake Zurich. The neighboring communities of Pfäffikon are the communities of Wetzikon , Bäretswil , Hittnau , Russikon , Fehraltorf , Bauma , Wildberg , Seegräben and Uster .
The Pfäffikon community includes the Aussenwachten Auslikon , Ober Balm , Unter Balm , Bussenhausen , Irgenhausen , Oberwil , Sulzberg , Hermatswil , Schür, Wallikon , Rick, Ravensbühl, Faichrüti and Rutschberg, which are mostly abolished civil communities .

economy
In 1882, the R. + E. Corporation was founded in Pfäffikon. Huber founded. This produced telegraph wires and cables, but also rubber and gutta-percha goods. In 1969 the company merged with Suhner & Co. AG in Herisau to form Huber + Suhner . The factory site in the center of the village on Tumbelenstrasse was sold in 2011 and new residential and commercial buildings were built; Huber + Suhner continues to operate the Witzberg plant in the west of the community.
Churches
On December 31, 2011, 44.2 percent of the population belonged to the Evangelical Reformed Church and 23.7 percent to the Roman Catholic Church .
In the Middle Ages, a church in Pfäffikon was first mentioned on August 11, 811. At that time, extensive donations in favor of the St. Gallen monastery were noted in the vestibule of the Benignus Church . On May 16, 960, the Pfäffikon church came to the Disentis monastery through the later Emperor Otto the Great . In the 13th century the church and court were ceded to the St. Gallen monastery. In 1275 Hugo von Breitenlandenberg was the administrator of these goods. In 1488 a parish church with a new choir and nave was built. After the Reformation in Zurich from 1523, the Reformation was also carried out in the Zurich subject areas and the medieval church was henceforth used for Reformed worship. In 1890, today's 52-meter high church tower was built on the medieval church.
The Roman Catholic Church of St. Benignus was built between 1962 and 1963 in place of a previous building from 1925. The patronage to St. Benignus takes up the consecration of the medieval church of Pfäffikon.
In Pfäffikon there is also the Neuhof Church of the Evangelical Anabaptist Congregation and the Chrischona Congregation .

Train traffic
The community has been connected to the Swiss railway network through the Pfäffikon station since May 3, 1876, when the Effretikon – Hinwil railway was opened by the Effretikon – Pfäffikon – Hinwiel (EH) railway company.
The Pfäffikon station is now served by the S 3 ( Bülach -) Hardbrücke - Zurich HB - Stadelhofen - Effretikon - Wetzikon of the Zurich S-Bahn every half hour. Since December 13, 2015, the S 19 ( Koblenz - Baden -) Dietikon - Zurich HB - Wallisellen - Effretikon (- Pfäffikon ZH ) to Pfäffikon has also been running during rush hour .
On September 12, 1982, one of the most serious railway accidents in Switzerland happened on the section between Pfäffikon and Fehraltorf : A coach, in which members of the Schönaich gymnastics and sports club (Germany) were traveling, was hit by someone on the level crossing at Kempttalstrasse on the northern edge of the village Regional train recorded. At that time the barriers were still operated by hand; due to a delay in the train, the barrier attendant had already mistakenly cleared the level crossing. A total of 39 passengers on the bus died.

Culture
The Reeds Reggae -Openair has been taking place right on the lake since 2004, attracting many people beyond the region.
In 2007 the Pfäffiker Chamber Orchestra “Amici dell'arte” was founded by the conductor Marcel Blanchard. Since then, the orchestra has given three classical concerts a year.
From 20 to 22 May 2011 the big Pfäffikerwält festival took place in the center of Pfäffikon. The whole school and over 50 clubs celebrated 1200 years of Pfäffikon and the youth festival that takes place every ten years.
Since 2002 has Walti Bräm publisher as a leading sub-levels - teaching publications of Switzerland based in Pfäffikon.
