Gollenberg is a municipality in the Birkenfeld district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Birkenfeld community .
geography
The village is on the edge of the Black Forest high forest in the Hunsrück . To the south are Birkenfeld and Ellenberg , west Rinzenberg and north is Oberhambach .
history
Gollenberg was first mentioned in 1415 as "Gulderberg". In the 1920s, pyrite was mined near the town , but mining was soon stopped again. From 1934 to 1952 Gollenberg and neighboring were Ellenberg combined in the municipality Gollenberg-Ellenberg.

The council in Gollenberg consists of six council members, who in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote were elected, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

The blazon of the coat of arms reads: "In the obliquely left divided shield, red and silver sheathed in front, behind a golden three-mountain in green."
The golden Dreiberg symbolizes the place name ( talking coat of arms ), the checkerboard pattern reminds of the former affiliation to the Hinteren Grafschaft Sponheim . The coat of arms was approved by the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of the Interior in 1963 .
Economy and Infrastructure
The federal highway 269 runs in the west and the federal highway 62 in the south . In Neubrücke there is a train station on the Bingen – Saarbrücken line .
