Oberreidenbach is a municipality in the Birkenfeld district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Herrstein-Rhaunen community .
geography
Oberreidenbach is located on Bundesstraße 270 , in a side valley of the Upper Nahe , between the Palatinate and Hunsrück , right on the edge of one of the largest military training areas in Germany, the Baumholder military training area , which has been mainly used by the German Armed Forces and the US Army for decades.
On January 1, 1994, part of the former Baumholder estate - a forest area south of the former location of the municipality of Zaubach , which was dissolved in 1937 - was reclassified into the local municipality of Oberreidenbach.
The municipality has a district area of 1,093 ha, of which 277 ha are forested and 412 ha are occupied by the military training area. Neighboring communities are Mittelreidenbach , Schmidthachenbach and Sienhachenbach . The next larger cities are Idar-Oberstein , Bad Kreuznach and Kaiserslautern .

Municipal council
The council in Oberreidenbach consists of twelve council members, who in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote were elected, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Stefan Becker became local mayor of Oberreidenbach on June 24, 2019. Since there was no candidate in the direct election on May 26, 2019, the election of the mayor was incumbent on the council, which decided in favor of Becker, in accordance with municipal regulations.
Becker's predecessors were Peter Gleßner from 1994 to 2019 and previously Harald Schmell, who held the office for ten years.
Culture and sights
The place has a club hall with a stage, bar and adjoining room, a refuge on Brockelberg with barbecue area, hiking trails and a viewpoint at approx. 510 m above sea level. NHN .
The Evangelical Church, built according to plans by August Senz , dates from 1903, the Catholic Church probably dates from the middle of the 13th century and has been a listed building since 1927 .

Economy and Infrastructure
Oberreidenbach has a lively club life: football, table tennis, aerobics, volunteer fire brigade , country women, beautification club and music club are just a few examples. Two small grocery stores, a bakery and an industrial area with companies from the fields of mechanical engineering, gardening, swimming pool construction and car trading round off the townscape. There is one full-time farmer and three part-time farmers.
The Reidenbachtal elementary school and the children's playground as well as the sports field and the small playing field with synthetic surface attract young families to the new development area "Auf dem Rain".
