Niederhosenbach is a municipality in the Birkenfeld district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Herrstein-Rhaunen community . Hildegard von Bingen was probably born in Niederhosenbach.
geography
The place is north of the Nahe between Kirn and Herrstein .
43.4 percent of the district area is forested. Neighboring towns are Herrstein , Breitenthal , Wickenrodt , Sonnschied , Griebelschied and Bergen .
Niederhosenbach also includes the “Auf dem Büchelchen”, “Heupenmühle” and “Between the Lakes” residential areas .
history
Until the end of the 18th century, the locality was divided into two parts as a sovereign : a smaller part belonged to the Electorate of Trier and was under the administration of the Weiden Office , the larger part to the Imperial County of Sponheim and was administered by the Herrstein Office. The native part had 25 families in 1607, in 1699 there were 15 families.

Municipal council
The council in Niederhosenbach consists of eight council members, who in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote were elected, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Markus Schnurr became the local mayor of Niederhosenbach in May 2017. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was confirmed in his office for another five years with a share of 65.97% of the votes.
Schnurr's predecessors were Thomas Heylmann from 2014 until his resignation, as well as Helmut Hey, who held the office for seven years.
Economy and Infrastructure
In November 2005 the unemployment rate was 3.5 percent. Bundesstraße 41 runs in the southeast . In Fischbach there is a train station on the Bingen – Saarbrücken line .
