Say about the Mackenrodter line
In Mackenrodt the legend of the Mackenrodter line has been handed down. This is about an old linden tree in town. In the linden tree there are said to have been seven holes in which a pin was inserted one hole every day in order to know the respective day of the week. One day, a rogue is said to have put the pin two holes further instead of one hole. As a result, the Mackenrodter hiked to the church in Idar on Saturday to find out that there was no service, which caused the dizziness to be exposed. Since then, the holes in the linden tree have allegedly been made so high up that they can no longer be seen with the naked eye.
The only truth about the story is probably the fact that the Mackenrodt population actually migrated to the church in Idar in the Middle Ages to attend the service; Even today there is a forest path between the two places, the Mackenrodter Weg.
