Fischbach an der Nahe is located near Idar-Oberstein on the German Gemstone Road in the Birkenfeld district in Rhineland-Palatinate . The local community belongs to the Herrstein-Rhaunen community .
geography
Fischbach is located in the southern Hunsrück on the Nahe. The Fischbach coming from the Idarwald flows through the village and flows into the Nahe .
history
Fischbach was first mentioned in a document in 1438, when the Counts of Sponheim, who had ruled the area until then, died out. After that, Fischbach was jointly owned by Baden and the Counts of Veldenz . The Veldenz share was taken over by Pfalz-Simmern in 1444 and then by Pfalz-Zweibrücken in 1559 . As part of an area swap, Fischbach became completely Baden in 1776. 1798-1814 the place was part of the French Saardepartement . After the Congress of Vienna (1815) it came to the Principality of Birkenfeld and thus to the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg .

Municipal council
The local council in Fischbach consists of twelve council members, who were elected in a personalized proportional representation in the local elections on May 26, 2019 , and the honorary local mayor as chairman. Due to the population decline, the number of council members decreased from 16 to 12 in 2014.

Michael Hippeli (SPD) became local mayor of Fischbach in May 2005. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was confirmed in office for a further five years with a share of 78.37% of the votes.
