geography

The village is on the edge of the Black Forest high forest in the Hunsrück . To the south are Birkenfeld and Ellenberg , west Rinzenberg and north is Oberhambach .

history

Gollenberg was first mentioned in 1415 as "Gulderberg". In the 1920s, pyrite was mined near the town , but mining was soon stopped again. From 1934 to 1952 Gollenberg and neighboring were Ellenberg combined in the municipality Gollenberg-Ellenberg.
