Dambach is a municipality in the Birkenfeld district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Birkenfeld community .

geography

The place is located in the Black Forest high forest in the Hunsrück about three kilometers southwest of the district town of Birkenfeld . To the south, Ellweiler , west Achtelsbach and northwest is bridges .

The Brandmühle residential area also belongs to Dambach .

history

Until the end of the 18th century, the place was assigned to the care or mayor's office in Achtelsbach in the Palatinate-Zweibrücken office of Nohfelden . In 1790, 20 families lived in the village.

In 1794 the Left Bank of the Rhine was taken by French revolutionary troops. From 1798 to 1814 Dambach belonged to the canton of Birkenfeld in the Saardepartement . As a result of the agreements made at the Congress of Vienna (1815), the region became part of the Oldenburg Principality of Birkenfeld in 1817 . The community was assigned to the mayor's office in Achtelsbach in the Nohfelden district . From 1918 on Dambach belonged to the Oldenburg "Landesteil Birkenfeld" and in 1937 it came to the Prussian district Birkenfeld . Dambach has been part of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate since 1946 .
