geography

The community, consisting of the two districts Wilzenberg and Hußweiler, is located on the Schwollbach on the edge of the Black Forest high forest . 52.6 percent of the district area is forested.

history

Hussweiler was first mentioned in 1344, Wilzenberg in 1438. Both places belonged to the Hinteren Grafschaft Sponheim . After the Congress of Vienna , the two places were assigned to the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg as part of the Principality of Birkenfeld . With the Oldenburg administrative reform, Wilzenberg and Hussweiler were united into one municipality on September 22, 1933.

The federal highway 41 runs in the southeast, which leads to the federal highway 62 in the south . In Kronweiler there is a train station on the Bingen – Saarbrücken line .
