Griebelschied is west of the Nahe between Kirn and Herrstein . 43 percent of the district area is forested (as of 2013).

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1279. In 1800 Schinderhannes celebrated the "Robber Ball of Griebelschied" in an inn.
