Hettenrodt is a municipality in the Birkenfeld district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Herrstein-Rhaunen community .

geography

The place is located on the east side of a ridge between Idarbach and Siesbach in the front of the Hunsrück and borders directly on the city of Idar-Oberstein . The entire district covers 532 hectares, of which around 120 hectares are state forest. The location itself has an area of ​​29 hectares. The demarcation has a misshapen, bizarre structure. This results in the rather large limit circumference of around 20 km. The center of the village is 410  m above sea level. NHN , the highest point at 623  m above sea level. NHN is the fortress near Kirschweiler.

Hettenrodt is located on the German Gemstone Road , belongs to the Saar-Hunsrück nature park and the Wildenburg hiking area . Hettenrodt is a national park municipality in the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park .

history

Until the end of the 18th century, Hettenrodt belonged to the Hinteren Grafschaft Sponheim and was an independent court in the Idar office , which was assigned to the Birkenfeld upper office .

In 1794 the Left Bank of the Rhine was taken by French revolutionary troops. From 1798 to 1814 Hettenrodt belonged to the canton of Herrstein in the Saar department . Due to the agreements made at the Congress of Vienna (1815), part of the previous Saar department, to which Hettenrodt also belonged, came to the Oldenburg Principality of Birkenfeld in 1817 . The municipality of Hettenrodt was assigned to the Oberstein mayor's office in the Oberstein district . From 1918 on, Hettenrodt belonged to the Oldenburg "Landesteil Birkenfeld" and in 1937 it came to the Prussian district of Birkenfeld . Hettenrodt has been part of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate since 1946 .

Municipal council

The council in Hettenrodt consists of twelve council members, who in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote were elected, and the honorary mayor as chairman. The previous council had eight council members.

Markus Schulz became the local mayor of Hettenrodt in 2014. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was confirmed in office for a further five years with 92.84% of the votes.

Schulz's predecessor as mayor, Jürgen Thom, did not run again in 2014.
