Schwollen is a municipality in the Birkenfeld district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Birkenfeld community . The state-approved resort is known for its mineral springs .

geography

Schwollen is located on the Schwollbach (Nahe) on the edge of the Black Forest high forest . This part of the high forest is the southwestern part of the Hunsrück . The neighboring communities are Leisel , Hattgenstein and Wilzenberg-Hußweiler . 63 percent of the municipal area is forested. The mineral water obtained from the springs is bottled by two soda companies. Schwollen is a national park community in the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park .

history

From 1918 on, Schwollen belonged to the Oldenburg "Landesteil Birkenfeld" and in 1937 came to the Prussian district of Birkenfeld . Schwollen has been part of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate since 1946 .
