Rimsberg is a municipality in the Birkenfeld district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Birkenfeld community .
geography
Rimsberg is east of the district town of Birkenfeld . Schmißberg is in the north and Nohen in the southeast .
The Vogelsbüsch settlement and the Lindenhof residential area also belong to Rimsberg .
history
The place was first mentioned in 1269 as Rummersberg .
Rimsberg belonged to the Hinteren Grafschaft Sponheim until the end of the 18th century and was the capital of an administrative and judicial district called care , which was subordinate to the Oberamt Birkenfeld . The villages of Nohen and Reichenbach also belonged to the care Rimsberg . In 1607 six families were counted in Rimsberg, in 1699 there were only four, the number of which rose to 15 by 1772. In 1790 the place had 78 inhabitants, the district of Rimsberg comprised about 307 hectares .
In 1794 the Left Bank of the Rhine was taken by French revolutionary troops. From 1798 to 1814 Rimsberg belonged to the canton of Birkenfeld in the Saar department . As a result of the agreements made at the Congress of Vienna (1815), the region became part of the Oldenburg Principality of Birkenfeld in 1817 . The municipality of Rimsberg was assigned to the Birkenfeld mayor in the Birkenfeld office. From 1918 on, Rimsberg belonged to the Oldenburg "Landesteil Birkenfeld" and in 1937 came to the Prussian district of Birkenfeld . Rimsberg has been part of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate since 1946 .
