coat of arms
Blazon : "In the front, red-and-silver sheathed shield, divided obliquely to the left, behind a blue wolf's head in silver over a blue three-mountain." | |
Justification of the coat of arms: The front part of the shield refers to the former affiliation to Hinteren Grafschaft Sponheim , Oberamt Birkenfeld ; the rear part of the shield points with the three mountain both speaking to the place name, as well as to the altitude of the place and the ridge of the so-called Gebücks; the wolf's head is reminiscent of the “Wolfskaul” in the district, an area in which a trapping pit for wolves was created.
The coat of arms was approved on August 26, 1963 by a decree of the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of the Interior . |
