As a result of the agreements made at the Congress of Vienna (1815), the region became part of the Oldenburg Principality of Birkenfeld in 1817 . Both communities were the mayor Niederbrombach in office Birkenfeld assigned. From 1918 on they belonged to the Oldenburg "Landesteil Birkenfeld". In 1933 the two previously independent communities were merged. After the Birkenfeld region was dissolved, Rötsweiler-Nockenthal became part of the Prussian district of Birkenfeld in 1937 .
