history

Schönaich 1681, forest inventory book by Andreas Kieser

Until the 19th century

Schönaich was first mentioned in a document in 1274. In the 13th century the place originally belonging to the Count Palatine of Tübingen came to the Dukes of Urslingen . Schönaich sold these to Count Eberhard II of Württemberg in 1363 . During the Thirty Years' War the village was largely depopulated. Serfdom was lifted in 1817.

When the new administrative structure was implemented in the Kingdom of Württemberg at the beginning of the 19th century, Schönaich remained assigned to the traditional Oberamt Böblingen .

In 1850 Schönaich had 2,100 Protestant and 15 Catholic residents, who lived and worked in 309 main and 60 auxiliary buildings.

20th century

The railway line to Böblingen-Zimmerschlag, which was inaugurated in 1922 and connected to the Schönbuchbahn , was shut down again in 1954.

During the district reform in Württemberg during the Nazi era , Schönaich came to the Böblingen district in 1938 . In 1945 the place became part of the American zone of occupation and thus belonged to the newly founded state of Württemberg-Baden , which was incorporated into the current state of Baden-Württemberg in 1952. After the Second World War , the place took in 1,500 displaced persons .

On September 12, 1982 in the railway accident in Pfäffikon ZH in Switzerland, a coach collided with a regional train, killing 39 members of TSV Schönaich.

Religions

In 1534 the Reformation was introduced in Schönaich . Since then, the place has been evangelical . The influx of expellees from the east of Germany led to the establishment of a Roman Catholic parish after the Second World War.

Due to Heizmann's change through his appointment as 1st mayor to Böblingen, an early election for the mayor's office was necessary in Schönaich. This was carried out in November 2017.

Daniel Schamburek was elected with 54.4 percent of the votes cast. With Lucienne Graupe (28.5 percent), Jens Beranek (9.9 percent), Roswitha Kolb (5.3 percent), Tobias Kramer (1.4 percent), Fridi Miller (1.0 percent) there were five opposing candidates.

Air raid tunnels

Because of the air raids in and around Schönaich during the Second World War, the construction of air raid tunnels was considered . For example, a few months before the end of the war, air raid tunnels in the Stubensandsteinfels were built for the civilian population below today's Bühläcker settlement.

Most of this was done on a private initiative. There was officially no wood for this, because according to the district builder from the Böblingen district office , it was said: “Given the extremely severe shortage of materials, air raid protection tunnel construction can only be carried out in particularly threatened communities. The community of Schönaich cannot be counted among them. But if the tunnel is to be built entirely in solid rock, so that neither wood nor cement is needed to expand the tunnel, then I would have no objection to building the tunnel according to the plans presented. "
