Mötzingen is a municipality in Baden-Württemberg , which belongs to the district of Böblingen . It belongs to the Stuttgart region (until 1992 the Middle Neckar region ) and the peripheral zone of the European metropolitan region of Stuttgart .
geography
Mötzingen is located in the Korngäu or Upper Gäu and is ten kilometers southwest of Herrenberg and five kilometers east of Nagold. The A 81 Rottenburg motorway junction is about six kilometers away.
history
The first settlement finds in the Mötzingen area date back to the Iron Age. The first documentary mention comes from 1094 . From 1806 Mötzingen belonged to the Württemberg Oberamt Herrenberg . On the occasion of the municipal reform in 1938, which led to the dissolution of the higher offices and the introduction of districts, the place became part of the Böblingen district .

Marcel Hagenlocher, who previously worked in Mötzingen's municipal administration, has been mayor since February 1, 2008. His predecessor Thomas Sprißler gave up the office after he was elected mayor of the large district town of Herrenberg in December 2007 .

The coat of arms consists of a silver chalice on a blue background. In the past, the chalice was surrounded by two branches of laurel, also silver. The origin of the coat of arms is unclear.
