Outside watch

Outside watch Hiltisberg near Wald

An outside watch in the Zurich area in Switzerland denotes a hamlet that does not represent a village in terms of size or does not have the infrastructure of such a village. Outside guards are some distance from the "mother church" to which they belong. Often there is a restaurant or school in an outside watch, but there are no grocery stores and similar essential components of a complete infrastructure.

The city of Winterthur has several such external guards such as Reutlingen , Stadel , Iberg , Ricketwil , Neuburg or Sennhof . There are other outside guards in communities in the Winterthur region such as around Hagenbuch ZH or in communities in the Zurich Oberland such as For example about forest or Bauma .

Unlike the earlier civil parishes in Zurich , outside guards have no internal autonomy and do not form a legal entity. In the past, however, many of the outside guards represented their own civil parishes.
